Bio

Born 165 km south of the US-Mexico border, he is a self-taught filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist with formal studies in engineering. He measures the success of his films by how much of himself he was able to abandon in the process. Each film is unalike, seemingly made by different people. He is obsessed with reinvention. Also self-taught in psychology and architecture, his most useful tools are doubt and contradiction.

He is an advocate of plagiarism and a great ignorant of world affairs. He believes that lies are an instrument to approach truth. It takes him on average 5.5555 years to complete a film.  He knows how to find underground water and regularly segment sleeps. Until recently he had never read a book in his life and he has never voted in an election of any kind. He is convinced he can document the future and has attempted this numerous times.

To date he has completed four feature length films and shorter projects that have received grants from Sundance Institute, Tribeca Film Institute, Rockefeller Media Artists and the AlterCine Foundation. He has been invited to give lectures, workshops and masterclasses at venues and universities including UCLA, Yale, NYU, Hunter, Union Docs (Brooklyn), ITESM (Mexico) and DocLab (Hanoi). He has been a guest judge at the Toulouse Latinamerican Film Festival (France), the former FICCO (Mexico), the Caracas International Film Festival (Venezuela) and the Bushwick Film Festival (USA).

His work has been shown and awarded at some of the most important venues and film festivals worldwide, including: The CCCB Museum (Barcelona), M+ Museum (Hong Kong), FEMSA Biennial (México), Sundance Film Festival (USA), Visions du Reel (Switzerland), IDFA (Netherlands), Toulouse (France), La Mostra de São Paulo (Brazil), Punto de Vista (Spain), BAFICI (Argentina), Mar del Plata (Argentina), FICUNAM (Mexico), Full Frame (USA), Cartagena (Colombia) , Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano (Cuba), Documenta Madrid (Spain), Mexican Academy Awards, Morelia (Mexico) and Ambulante (Mexico). His films have been broadcasted and shown theatrically in different parts of the world including WDR-ARTE in Germany.

He has lived long periods of his life in the north of Mexico, Bolivia, the Arizona desert, India, the Yucatan Peninsula in southern Mexico, the North of Vietnam, West Turkey and currently in the North of Albania.
